This image showed up in my Google Reader and it quickly became one of my most favorite things ever! It appeared on Index//mb, a great blog about book publishing in Canada. I forwarded the link to Ann and it turned out she was the one that sent it to Mark at the site! Great minds, I guess!
The wonderful folks at Vroman’s Bookstore in L.A. have created a fantastic (and sometimes fantastical) gift guide, including an all-expenses paid trip to Book Expo America in NY (only $4350!), a mural by local artist Louis Cannizarro ($975), and a visit to the International Space Station ($35-45 million)! Some of the coolest items involve Vroman’s itself, including a day hanging out behind the scenes at the store ($100), or a slumber party for 6 at the store ($600). I think most readers find bookstores to be magical places and the opportunity to hang out “backstage” would be a great gift!
I’m loving the new blog Dad-O-Matic. Finally, a place for Dads to talk about fatherhood and place to prove that we’re not all neanderthals, afraid of changing diapers. They recently did a blog post on favorite bedtime books. There’s some great titles in the post and in the comments, including Duck in the Truck, a fun, rhyming favorite of our family!
