I’ve been back from New York Comic Con since yesterday, and my back and my feet still hurt! I saw people dressed up as Jedi, Anime characters and super-heroes. I met a few TV stars and attended some great panels on future plans for the DC heroes. Then there were the books. Oh, so many books. I’d say there were even more books than there were attendees (currently estimated at 77,000!) I saw many things that I can’t wait to read, but one book really stood out.

ad_comp3_sm A.D.: New Orleans After the Deluge by Josh Neufeld is a graphic narrative of the Hurricane Katrina and the toll it took on New Orleans. The small snippets of art I saw – mostly the cover – were enough to make me eager to read this book. I quickly found out the book began as a webcomic on Smith Magazine. I clearly had some catching up to do.

The printed book will be expanded beyond what has already appeared online, and will be released in August, just in time for the fourth anniversary of the hurricane.

So, you have a choice: you can go online and read the webcomic now, or you can wait and read the expanded story in print in August. Either way, read it. I’ve got a feeling about this one.

We encourage you to write down or print out the title information and shop at your local bookstore. Normally, titles link to LibraryThing, a social networking site that allows you to catalog your home library. In this case, the title links to the publisher’s website, because the book is not due out for some time.
