Live near Chicago? Then make sure you head over to The Bookstore in Glen Ellyn on August 27th, for their Beowulf on the Beach Bash, with author Jack Murnighan. Here’s the write-up from the store’s website:

Announcing a new Book Club Summer Reading Challenge for Adults! Participants will be invited to an end of the summer “Beowulf on the Beach Bash” — a cocktail and book discussion party on Thursday, August 27th at 7pm at The Bookstore! First, buy Beowulf at the Beach by Jack Murnighan (paperback $15.00)– an “erudite, witty, and fun-loving” field guide to 50 of the best classics; second, pick out a classic to read this summer, with or without your book club, and finally, sign up to receive an invitation to the party, where you will get to meet author Jack Murnighan. We will sip Anna Karenatinis and share stories about our summer reading selections. (Margie’s reading Moby Dick; Sue is reading Pride and Prejudice, how ’bout you?)

I can’t make it out there, but hope to raise an Anna Karenatini in their honor!

Also, if you live near Boston, and are reading this right after I post it, head out the door and start making your way to Brookline Booksmith. Jack is reading there tonight (Thursday, 8/6) at 7pm. Sorry for the late notice… Now, onto this week’s video:
