It seems like it’s been contest central around here, lately, I know. We are so lucky. I hope you will be, too. Our friends at Knopf have given us a copy of The Girl Who Played With Fire to give away. It just came out last Tuesday and is the hottest book in stores right now. I spent this past weekend at the Newport Folk Festival, and of the 20 or so books I spotted, four were The Girl Who Played With Fire. Maybe those music fans are also fans of Books on the Nightstand: if you’ve listened to episode #36 of our podcast, you will know how much I love this book (I discuss it around the 16:00 minute mark, if you want to jump right to it).

As I said on the podcast, you don’t have to have read The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo to enjoy The Girl Who Played With Fire, but it does spoil some of the mystery in the first book if you haven’t. So for that reason, I’m also going to give away a paperback copy of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, which I blogged about a few weeks ago. You can choose which book you would like to receive if you win.

Each book will come with a very cool temporary tattoo created especially for the book, modeled here by our bookseller friends at The Northshire Bookstore:

Five runners-up will receive their very own temporary dragon tattoos. You may laugh, but many, many people have been begging me for their own tattoos. To all of you (you know who you are!), you’ll just have to enter and hope that you win!

To win, just post a comment here telling us which book you’d like if you win (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, or The Girl Who Played with Fire). If you’ve read either one and want to tell our readers your thoughts, we’d love that, too! I will randomly draw one winner for each on Monday, August 10th at 5pm EST. Unfortunately, we are only able to mail prizes for this contest to US addresses.

Good luck!

I haven’t read either, so please pick me!!!!

  2. I haven’t read either so I’ll start at the beginning and request The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

It’s been on my TBR since hearing your wonderful thoughts about it. But of course the TBR pile is large.

    Thanks!

  3. I loved the Girl Who Played with Fire and have recommended it to many friends since I read it last year. I have sworn off buying books right now so I am eagerly awaiting my library to get a copy in (I’m on the waiting list). Would love to win my own copy!

I’ve read Girl With the Dragoon Tattoo and found it an interesting look into the character of a young woman with a less than desirable upbringing. I am looking forward to reading The Girl Who Played with Fire to learn more about her.

I would love to win the book!

  5. I won’t lie, I was one of the beggars. ;) I’d love a copy of either book, but what I REALLY want is to be a runner-up!

I have read The girl with the dragon tattoo and it has become one of my favorite books ever. I am on a rather large waiting list at my library for The girl who played with fire so i would love to win that one. The tattoo would be so cool also.

  7. Tanya says:

Wow! I’ve listened to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (unabridged; narrated by Simon Vance) and despite the exposition and set-up which took up a good portion of the beginning of the novel, when the action started, Wow! I was counting the days and hours until I could dnload The Girl who Played with Fire and IMHO, it’s even better! The story is engaging from the start. I would love to have a copy of the original, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo as it seems to somehow “fit” with the temporary dragon tattoo give-away!

  8. Amy says:

The Girl Who Played with Fire! I have the other–just haven’t cracked it open yet. Hmmm…maybe today’s a good day to do that…

    Thanks!

I would love to get the copy of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. For a variety of reasons, one of which is that I’ve heard fabulous things about it. I’ve had it in my hand no less than 5 times and haven’t gotten it. I’m also looking to get another tattoo and want to see how that one looks on me.

Ok, that third reason was completely false. Ok, partially false. I do want another tattoo but that has nothing to do with the reason that I want to win the book. I’ll even write a review on my blog. ;-)
