I listened to this as I was driving over to Stratford upon Avon for the annual Shakespeare Birthday lecture, this year given by the new director of the Royal Shakespeare Company, Greg Doran. I laughed so much at Matthew Dicks piece that I very nearly came off the road. As a primary teacher I frequently stood on my desk and did ‘Once more into the breach, dear friends’ just because it was a more fun way to teach about Henry V than sticking to the text books. I didn’t think about ‘Friends, Romans, Countrymen’ and I can only be sorry that I’m now retired and haven’t got the chance to give it a whirl and see how it goes down.
