I haven’t had the opportunity to attend a Booktopia event yet so I am thrilled each time you post the author’s talk so we all can enjoy it. I read Songs of Willow Frost and loved it so I immediately read Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet which I loved even more. I have never read Melanie Benjamin, but am inspired to read The Aviator’s Wife after hearing her speak. I am a newcomer to Mary Doria Russell. I tried The Sparrow a couple of times, but I guess the timing just wasn’t right. Recently Ann mentioned it as a book she recommends often and that the reader should stick with it (or something to that effect.) That did it, I did stick with it and I loved it so much. As soon as I finished it, I wanted to start at the beginning and reread it or speak to someone about it. I went out and bought Children of God and now I’m intrigued by her new book Doc.

Now I’m rambling, but I really enjoyed this week’s podcast. When considering next year’s Booktopia events, you might consider Temecula, CA. Beautiful city, beautiful weather. Of course, we don’t have an independent bookstore, but we have a lot of wineries, but I guess that’s not the same thing. Oh well!
